Today we had the pleasure of welcoming Stuart Reid to St. Peter's and what a wonderful day we had in his company.
First of all he took a school assembly with the children in the hall which was interactive, inspirational, captivating and above all great fun. The children listened attentively and participated fully as Stuart talked to them about being an author, what he loves about his job and why books are so fantastic! He answered any questions the children had and signed books for them at the end.
Then he took our P4, P5 and P6 classes for his entertaining creative writing workshops where he shared his love of and tips for being a successful story writer, looking at plot, setting and characters.
Finally he met with parents to stress the importance of developing a love for reading with children and how doing so impacts positively on their future. He shared his own reading interests and listened intently as parents also shared their love for reading and what they enjoyed to read.
